Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the process of school inclusion of a blind student in the final years of
Elementary School, especially in Geography classes at the Municipal School Darcílio Ayres Raunheitti, located in the municipality of Nova Iguaçu. The analysis was based on the interviews with the student and teachers who attended it, as well as on observations in the regular classroom and resource room, in the compulsory traineeship activities carried out in the years 2016 and 2017. The methodology used in the research was based, in the case study and in the bibliographical survey on Inclusive Education and authors who approach in their studies the teaching of Geography for visually impaired students. The results showed that the school offers some important resources for the educational service of the student, but problems related to the initial and continued formation of the teachers who attend it, the little interaction with the classmates, as well as problems in the physical infrastructure of the school building are factors that present as obstacles in the process of inclusion of the blind student.
